Transcript: The Health and Safety Executive is a non-departmental public body of the United Kingdom  Regulation: a rule or directive made and maintained by an authority. HASWA RIDDOR Who are they? RIDDOR is the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013. These Regulations require employers, the self-employed and those in control of premises to report specified workplace incidents. Who are they? COSHH is the law that requires employers to control substances that are hazardous to health. You can prevent or reduce workers exposure to hazardous substances by: finding out what the health hazards are; deciding how to prevent harm to health (risk assessment); providing control measures to reduce harm to health; making sure they are used ; keeping all control measures in good working order; providing information, instruction and training for employees and others; providing monitoring and health surveillance in appropriate cases; planning for emergencies. What do they do? It is the body responsible for the encouragement, regulation and enforcement of workplace health and safety regulations. HSE yo What is COSHH? Health and Safety Executive Important definitions COSHH HASWA is the health and safety at work act. it is the primary piece of legislation covering health and safety of workers in the UK. This act was was passed in 1974. Legislation: Laws that need to be followed, if not prosecution may occur. Duty of care: a moral or legal obligation to ensure the safety or well-being of others.
