Solar Eclipse

Transcript: The Mystery of the Solar Eclipse By: Joud Hassoun Lisi was the Goddess of solutions and stars. Whenever anyone had an argument or problem, they would go to see her for advice. She gave great advice, as long as she was complimented on her work. If someone tried to outshine her, they would regret it. Lisi's main symbol is the star Ilios and Parisa were twins. Ilios was God of the Sun and Parisa was Goddess of the Moon. They got along pretty well, but Parisa was always jealous of Ilios. Ilios' sun was seen more than Parisa's moon. He was always praised for his beautiful sun. Parisa's moon came out at night, while everyone was asleep and she rarely got any praise for how her moon would shine. Parisa begged Ilios to split the year and take turns. Ilios did not want to give up his shine and ignored Parisa. He was always the center of attention and liked his shine. This argument came to Lisi's attention. She was intimidated by Ilios. Lisi's stars came out with the moon and she liked it like that. Parisa wanted to switch spots with Ilios, and if that happened, then Ilios' sun would take the attention off her stars. She would not allow that. Parisa and Ilios marched into Lisi's office and demanded for her to tell them who would shine during the day. Lisi easily sided with Ilios, but couldn't say that because it would look too suspicious. She constructed a clever obstacle course up Mount Olympus. Whoever got to the top first, would choose when they would shine. She briefly explained the solution and it was agreed upon. She just had to find a way to make Ilios win. Later that night, Lisi tried to come up with a plan to help Ilios win. She made shoes with wings and gave them to Ilios, then left without saying a word. A gift is a gift, and Ilios graciously accepted them. The day had finally arrived. The race was behind schedule because Lisi still hadn't arrived yet. Once she did, she grabbed the horn and blew the beginning song. The race began up this rugged mountain that floated on nothing but a cloud. Ilios slipped his shoes on, and began up the mountain. He was soaring at such a speed, you could not see his body. Meanwhile, Parisa tried her best to make it half way. Lisi was pleased that Ilios was doing so well. She knew she had nothing to worry about. Or so she thought... Zeus was watching this race. For it delighted him to see people try and reach the top of Mount Olympus. Lisi didn't know he was watching. Zeus saw Ilios win the race, and knew he cheated. However, he could not stop Ilios, for he had already won and there was a rule against changing the winner. Zeus could at least try to help Parisa. Lisi was ecstatic that Ilios had won. All her happiness drained out, when Zeus arrived. Zeus trudged up to Lisi and was so disappointed that he banished her somewhere in the stars. Ilios feeling guilty for his cheating, declared that once or twice a year, Parisa's moon could cover his sun. This would happen for only a couple of minutes each time, because Ilios could not stand not being the center of attention for longer than that. Therefore, explaining how solar eclipses came to be.

Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.
