Transcript: Plants use a process called photosynthesis to turn carbon dioxide from the air, and water into food. Photosynthesis means to "put together using light". Flowers are an important part of our ecosystem. They are needed for the production of seeds. Stems allow the water and nutrients absorbed by the roots to travel up to the leaves. Food produced by the leaves is now able to move to other areas of the flower. The roots fasten the flower safely to the ground. Roots absorb the nutrients (sugar and carbohydrates) and water that are needed to grow. The leaves of a flower are known as the food-making factory of a plant. Flowers The petals of a flower are important because they help attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. Chlorophyll is the green substance in the leaves that help photosynthesis to occur.
